"As of now, a total of 235 group standards have been issued, including 31 converted to national standards, 16 to industry standards, and 3 to international standards, achieving zero breakthroughs in international standards in the field of intelligent transportation in China!!" On March 21, WANG Xiaojing, Chairman of China ITS Alliance (referred to as the Alliance) and Chief Scientist of the National Intelligent Transportation System Engineering Technology Research Center, announced at the annual meeting and 10th anniversary summary meeting of the China ITS Alliance.
The Alliance was officially established in September 2013, under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport and led by the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, with the participation of large intelligent transportation-related enterprises, universities, standards committees, and research institutions at home and abroad. Over the past 10 years, the membership of the Alliance has grown from the initial 45 to 493, forming an industrial ecological cluster covering various fields such as traffic engineering, mobile communication, automobile manufacturing, artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, electronic maps, travel services, logistics transportation, and internet connectivity.
According to the introduction, as a pilot unit for standardization of the Ministry of Transport, the first batch of pilot units for group standards of the National Standardization Management Committee, and a standardized demonstration unit of the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone Zhongguancun, this year, the Alliance will focus on promoting 60 group standards and research projects. The Alliance will also leverage its role as a standing board member organisation of ITS Asia Pacific and the ITS World Congress BOD to promote international exchanges and project cooperation, deepen industry-university-research cooperation, and help enhance China's international influence in the field of intelligent transportation.
