18th ITS Asia-Pacific Forum (Chengdu, China) Opens on April, 27
The opening ceremony and the plenary session of the 18th ITS Asia-Pacific Forum were successfully held on the morning of April, 27, in Sichuan, Chengdu. Xu Yahua, chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport, Liu Xuguang, vice mayor of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, and Zhu Xuelei, deputy director of Sichuan Provincial Department of Transport, delivered speeches, and Zhang Tao, deputy secretary-general of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, presided over the opening ceremony and announced the opening of the forum.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Hajime Amano, Secretary-General of ITS Asia-Pacific, Mr. Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO, and Ms. Laura Chase, chairman and CEO of ITS America, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony on behalf of the three international organizations of Asia-Pacific, Europe and Americas respectively.
At the plenary session, experts, in the fields of government, industry, academia and research, from China, the United States, Japan, and Europe were invited to participate to discuss how the application of new technologies will promote the transformation and efficiency of transportation. Mr. Wang Xiaojing，Chairman of ITS Asia-Pacific, deputy director of the 18th Asia -Pacific ITS Organizing Committee, and Chairman of China ITS Industry Alliance, attended and moderated the plenary session.
Mr. Zhang Jinquan, director of Research Institute of Highway of the Ministry of Transport of China, Mr. Takayuki Yamazaki, Director of Transport Automation Planning Office of Department of Transport of Police Agency of Japan, Mr. Russ Shields, President and CEO of RoadDB, LLC, USA, Mr. Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO, and Mr. Zhou Mingcheng, vice president of MKT & Solutions Team of Smart Road Department of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. were invited to deliver keynote speeches.
With the theme of “ITS Driving for a Better Life”， this Forum lasted for 3 days, which mainly in the form of livestreaming. There were a total of 28 sessions including digital cloud exhibitions, opening/closing ceremony, plenary sessions, high-level executive sessions, technical forum, regional leader’s forum, youth forum and interactive session (IS). The number of various speeches and presentations reached over 200.
